Gender chore gap : a big tragedy

                                        Last night I was chatting with my friend and I just asked him why don't you help your mother in doing household chores and his reply 'I am not a girl to do that, OK'

seriously made me think a lot about the topic of big concern ' Gender discrimination'.                                                            Well, when we talk about doing household chores, women are considered for doing it even if they are earning money. If we focus on the ancient reasons behind women doing housework, it explains us that, earlier in most of the western countries, both men and women were engaged in farm cultivation, household chores and raising children but as industrial revolution started men rushed towards industries for earning money and the complete incharge of housework went on to women. If we consider ancient myths it tells that, during labour division , men were given the work of hunting food and women the work of cooking and cultivation. This trend continued forward but gave rise to gender discrimination. We must now accept the changed scenario women also have equal potentials as much as men. They can equally earn money as much as men. Then why should doing household work be only a women's job? Nothing remains same in this ever-changing world. Then why can't now men impart time to do housework. There is surely a big revolution when it comes to feminism. Then why can't there be a revolution in labour division. We must accept the changed scenario and leave that mouldy stuff. Men should also impart time to do housework.                                         
           There are many things that give rise to gender chore gap. The very first thing that comes to my mind is wrong parenting ways. Children generally follow their elders. So if male elders in the house won't do housework and think it's a women's task then won't the kids in the house imbibe the same attitude in them? Even many times, in the same house, a girl is locked with many responsibilities and a boy is free to play. So if parents teach their kids to do equal parts of work and treat both equally, it will surely help to put an end to the thought " housework and raising children is only a women's job". Even schools can take a initiative to put an end to such things by teaching them the importance of gender equality. The second thing is the inferiority complex which most often females bear for themselves. Especially, in rural areas, girls generally don't take an effort to study and get themselves involved in house affairs. Biologically, women are inclined to be caregivers. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they should deal with only household chores. So, even girls should also change their attitude and engage themselves in gaining knowledge which will surely give them wings to fly. The third thing is societal forces. Many times due to societal forces women are forced to do housework and leave education. Society must accept change and imbibe a positive attitude in order to develop.
       It is extremely important to bring about a positive change because it will motivate and promote our girls to concentrate on study, bring a good bond among family members, create a healthy minded society and most importantly it will put an end to gender discrimination. Not only in housework but gender discrimination must not prevail anywhere.
       So we all should think positively and bring up the change as it is already said "Be the change you want to see in the world ". Let's end up gender chore gap. Let's enjoy doing work without gender discrimination. Let's come together and make an effort to put an end to it.
      Lastly, let's be together, toil hard and create a secure world where every bird will breathe freely.
